Virginity Is Dangerous

Imagine you tell a little girl about the importance of virginity.

How important it is to ensure that she never loses her purity and that she keeps her hole untouched … but you let her also know that if she ever lets anyone touch it, that she automatically becomes dirty. That kind of rejected “dirty” that feels like a used pure water sachet that has been torn up, sucked dry and left discarded on the side of the road …

Culture Is Dangerous

Imagine then that you tell that same girl about the importance of Culture. That when she sees her elders, intelligent elders, smart elders, religious elders and even stupid elders that she is to bow down … prostrate to them as a sign of cultural respect. And that when elders talk she should listen and not talk back because somehow all of our elders are somehow wise …

Danger Danger Danger

Imagine now that that same girl happens to accidentally misplace her virginity bowing down or prostrating to an elder in his bedroom? *cough cough*

Imagine that? What does she do? How will she feel?

She is stuck in a classic catch-22 situation … Go against culture and speak out against the elders or obey culture and keep quiet.

Sadly it is the latter … quiet obedient respectful abused Nigerians all in the name of Cultural Virginity!
