Let’s Get 99 Kids Into School Today #The99Kids

Last week, I visited the Ken Ade Secondary school to discuss an exciting school swap program with one of the Private secondary schools on the mainland.

While discussing the program, I got a call from Tamara Preye about some kids in the Makoko community who were trying to get into school but could not afford to and they had been calling her all week.

Fortunately she was able to bring two of them down to the Secondary school I was at, and it was there that I took this picture of Oluwaseyi Adegoke standing in a class with students learning but unable to join because of a meager N30,000 (includes uniform) for 1 year! And there are 98 more kids just like him trying to get into school.

This was about a week ago and the school term started weeks ago, so we need to get these kids into school as soon as possible. Early this year we were able to get 25 kids into school, but this year our task is a little bit tougher as we have over 90 children that we need to get into both Primary and Secondary schools in Makoko.

It’s basically 3 times the numbers we raised last time out, that’s why I will be working with 2 extraordinary people to make this a reality. The energetic Olorunfunmi Adebajo and the super driven Tamara Preye. Both awesome ladies who work endlessly and tirelessly in the community to make lives better for the indigenes.

We would be working with the Ken Ade Low Cost Private Primary and Secondary school in Makoko, the same school we worked with early this year.

The left over from the #800 boots program is about N250,000 which will be used to start the project off, but we would need to raise a total of 2.5 million to get all 99 kids into school. It is very doable but we would need as much help as we can get.
